When this came out a couple of years ago, it was on repeat on my iPod for months. It still jacks me up on adrenaline every time I listen to it. I don’t know what Dave Grohl drinks in his off hours, but he has a couple of tunes in my top ten list of songs that rock. The Pretender is one of them. Everlong is the other. For today, enjoy The Pretender. Who are YOU?

One of My Favorite Bands
Check out Mew. They’re a fantastic band, you’ll love the subtlety and the moods they generate.
I want one of these…
Maps! But a Fan Video
Since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs won’t let me embed their video, I’m sharing a fan video, but still good. Maps makes me and my wife cry. We have talked over and over about how this song evokes so much emotion, it’s hard not to get overwhelmed anytime you listen to it. It turned us on to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and we’ve never looked back. Enjoy.
Who Didn’t Love the Flopping Fish?
I remember when this came out when I was in 8th or 9th grade….I was growing my hair long, had started listening to things like Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the like. The Epic video was a life changer for a lot of people and Faith No More inspired a whole generation of musicians, ushered in the rap/metal and nu-metal genres and provided us all with a lot of conversation about that flopping fish at the end, not to mention the guitarist’s wild hairdo. I hope you like it as much as I do.
Get Yourself Validated
A couple of years ago we had a couple of weeks where we joked about getting a validation. My brother in law, Lou, works as a concierge in a high end restaurant, Bambara, in Salt Lake. He is largely responsible for keeping everyone happy, but also for handing out parking validations. Our joke was that when people came to his little podium to ask for a validation, instead of just giving them the sticker, he would say something like, “You look really good in that sweater. You are also very bold and I appreciate that about you.” After joking about it for a while, we found this video. Our family gives it a generous twelve thumbs up.
Will It Blend? My Favorite Use of Video for Business
I love the Blendtec videos. A couple of years ago the blender company, which only made professional grade blenders and sold them to businesses, starts making a video series where they blend up weird stuff: golf balls, ball point pens, and in the case of this video, an iphone. There’s even one where they attempt to blend a garden rake. Millions of views later, they are YouTube celebrities. I love it. Enjoy.
Coming soon…a business opportunity
I’ve been working on a business opportunity I am going to be offering to the general public. I should have it finished in the next couple of weeks, but the deal is going to be interesting, so keep watching…
My Favorite Song, Apparently
According to my iTunes play count list, this is my favorite song. It is one of the top ten for sure. Mew is a fantastic band. You should check them out if you haven’t.
Great Tune From Back In The Day
I swear, everyone in the world rocked out to this one-hit wonder. What happened to Q-Feel? Nothing. Nothing at all. Hence the one-hit wonder label. Next time I make a music video I’m going to include ladies with big hair in the background waving sticks. It’s too cool. And the jump suits are out of control.
